Rules and guidelines on using stun guns varies widely around Australia, from the sensible, cautious policy of the Tasmanian Prison Service to more gung ho approaches elswhere, including in Queensland. There, the policy is being reviewed after a man died after police stunned him numerous times near Townsville in June 09.
