CLA's policy on sedition
Some freedoms are fundamental to democracy, CLA believes:
  • freedom of speech;
  • freedom of conscience;
  • freedom of assembly; and
  • freedom of the person.
Proper functioning of democracy also depends on government accountability (of elected representatives and their staff, and of public servants), people's access to information and a fair electoral system based on one vote, one value.

I disagree with the burning of the flag, however, it should not be outlawed, in my opinion as it is an expression of free speech. I am sure that in this case, the majority of people see it for what is it, bludgers with nothing better to do but blame others for their misfortune, be proactive and move on.

If we do not believe in freedom of expression for those that we despise, then we do not believe in it at all - Noam Chomsky
