I refer to page 4 of the Herald Sun dated 23/6/2014 and to SBS TV Australia news tonight, regarding a story about the Federal Government proposing to introduce increased powers to ‘inspect’ people’s private computers. I want to state that I agree with the comments made by the Civil Liberties Australia representative, on SBS TV tonight, that the proposed “Digital Security” enhancement laws go too far, and are restricting further on the privacy of Australians.

Sometimes I feel that the Government (and some media outlets) uses ‘fear campaigns’ to introduce unnecessary legislation on Australians and further erode their liberties.

If Australia wants to increase understanding of the Middle Eastern nations, it must do this via the modern tool of diplomacy, called sport. Australia soccer is a full member of the Asian Football Confederation, and Australia must use this membership, and the upcoming Asian Cup soccer tournament, to be held in Australia in January 2015, to build relations and understanding with Middle Eastern nations. Australia comes across sometimes as bogan and uneducated when dealing with non-Anglo nations.
