I am deeply, deeply concerned, that consideration is given to regulate the freedom of speech in our media. A thriving democracy thrives on free speech, which gives its citizens the right to speak their views. It gives its citizens the opportunity to know the views of those who have opposite views. With opposing views, we are given the opportunity to make up our own minds. When the media are being regulated, we are literally being deprived of what a whole range of people are thinking, including politicians. Do we really realise that we then sliding towards living in a totalitarian state? Spoonfed by what the government considers is appropriate for us to know? This proposed regulation demands the strongest possible protest.
