Self-education should be a right

Education has become highly politicised and so highly priced that it has become a commodity for the rich and educational institutions have become self serving (evidenced by the hundreds of thousands spent in self promotion). In reality, if people are knowledgeable, competent in a field, can reason well using appropriate levels of abstraction and make socially sound judgements, then they are educated. For bright motivated people it has never been easier to self educate. We should not be at the mercy of greedy governments and institutions. I believe it is more important than ever for civil libertarians to advocate for the right to self educate by a system of examinations and assessments that are independent of schools and universities.
