Minister Nelson, 21 May]. They are part of an invading and occupying force in a formerly sovereign nation.
Australian soldiers are not being targeted “because they are doing an excellent job”; they are being targeted because there are people who don’t want them there.
Nelson and this Government continue asserting that Australian soldiers will “stay the course” and remain “until the job is done.”
To date, our Government has not defined what “course” is being “stayed,” what “job” is being “done,” or what “done” really means. So let’s stop the glib phrases and cliches, cease the hand-wringing.
Our soldiers will remain targets as long as they remain in Iraq. If our Government doesn’t want our soldiers as targets, they would bring ’em home.
