CensorFree’s Approach

CensorFREE’s policy position is to:

Support giving parents the choice of installing software (free, or at very little cost) which will filter their home’s internet feed;

Oppose any form of mandatory, Australia-wide filtering of the internet which effectively censors people’s access to information, unless it operates on an ‘opt-in’ basis, where Australians retain freedom to choose.

CensorFREE says:

Problems with the government’s current proposal:

It throttles the Internet: is shown in tests to slow the internet down by upto 75% regardless of the speed you pay for;

It is mandatory: this takes away free choice;

It imposes censorship: censorship by the government on what Australians are permitted to see and read, hear and view.

It targets ‘selected’ websites: nameless, faceless ‘Big Brother’ groups, behind the scenes, will control what information YOU can access;

It will expand: more websites, of an increasingly broader ‘thought control’ nature, will be added over time…euthanasia, bulimia, marijuana, alternatie religions, etc;

It dumbs down Australia: restricting access to information limits learning.
