Fair Go 08

In the year 2007, the call for a Fair Go was a key determinant in the downfall of the Howard government as issues such as industrial relations, the war in Iraq, the plight of refugees, the incarceration of David Hicks and the confinement of Mohamed Haneef were debated.

One hopes that the concept of a Fair Go, which has been a integral part of the Australian ethos since the Eureka stockade, will find expression in 2008 as the Rudd government seeks international co-operation on climate change and on matters of reconciliation with indigenous Australians, involving them in the process to ensure that they also receive a long-overdue fair go.
