Each citizen’s human rights must be protected against arbitrary interference, says CLA. Australians expect the federal parliament to enshrine all ratified international covenants involving human rights into domestic law by way of a national Human Rights Act which includes ’No Rights Without Remedy’ conciliation and tribunal (or court) options for legal ruling finality. No laws should restrict the rights of any individual or group in a manner inconsistent with international covenants; any rights and liberties laws should be independently appealable quickly, easily and cheaply, especially “emergency” laws.
