Chic pods bomb out for generals

Four top US Air Force generals have been trying for three years to filch $16m from terrorism-fighting funds to provide airborne "comfort capsules" designed for emperor-class travel.
The two-room luxury pods, with all the amenities of sports arena skyboxes, would have slid into the fuselage of military aircraft to carry the generals and VIP guests, of whatever sex. The chic pods were on top of the US Air Force’s existing fleet of 100 planes meant for VIP travel.
But the scam was uncovered by a private watchdog group, the Project on Government Oversight. In June, the US Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates, fired the Air Force’s top civilian and top general.
