Fair dinkum compensation requested

Fair dinkum compensation requested

Dear Your Majesty Elizabeth:  I draw your attention to Today’s London Letter dated 20 June 2014 (3 pages) “When is a wrongful conviction not a miscarriage of justice?”

Victor Nelson was wrongfully jailed for 17 years, but he is not being compensated, British Justice Secretary Chris Grayling has now ruled that Nelson has “not suffered a miscarriage of justice” as defined by law. Nelson’s lawyer, Mr. Mark Newby said the decision is “ a nonsense”.

My understanding of the British Justice System is that Her Majesty The Queen and her representatives throughout the Commonwealth, i.e.: Governor General and State Governors, by convention generally act on the advice of their Ministers. But the sovereign can override that in the most exceptional circumstances and may advise your Prime Minister that it is your pleasure that compensation is paid to Mr. Victor Nelson for his 17 years in jail for a wrongful conviction, according to Lord Justice Fulford.

I ask you to act in a fair dinkum way, and recommend to your Prime Minister that it is your pleasure that this man is compensated.
