Drugs in sport and gene patents bring liberties and rights issues into focus

The major issues in Australia of drugs allegedly being rife in sport, and a patent system which allows private companies to ‘own’ human genes still have a long way to run, and CLA is active on both. This month there’s also a 100-year reflection on Australian women beating US women to the vote, but trailing ever since because women in the US got a bill of rights at the same time as they won the vote. Plus there’s a sweeping rundown of local and international liberties and rights news.
