Civil Liberties Australia is holding its electronic annual general meeting (eAGM) process between 1 February and 10 April 2010.
This year’s ‘electronic annual general meeting’…or eAGM does not involve the election of office bearers as their term extends to the next eAGM in 2011. However, this year’s eAGM will consider any major notices of motion and, as required by regulation, vote on the annual reports of CLA.
All notices of motion, discussions and voting will be handled electronically – online, with members still being able to postal vote, if required. Last year, saw CLA conduct its first, and we believe the first organisation of our type, to go to full a electronic general meeting, involving annual reporting, discussion/decision and voting processes. Last year over 60% of the membership participated in the eAGM.
Formal call for motions
This notice comprises a formal call for draft notices of motion to change major policy/constitutional provisions. Please note that there are guidelines forward a motion: please read these before doing so, so as to not inconvenience other CLA members unnecessarily. Broadly, there is a period for nominating, followed by a period of debate discussion if needed, and then a period for formal voting. The timetable is:
