  1. So, Labor’s new Human Rights & Anti-Discrimination Bill will perpetuate the right of religious organisations, including schools, hospitals & charities, to refuse employment to gays, lesbians, single mothers, adulterers, bisexuals, transsexuals & couples such as the Prime Minister & her partner, even when their activities are publicly funded (‘Shutting out the ‘sinners’ feeds bigotry’, Canberra Times, January 20th). Given that anyone who is unfit to work in God’s service must be equally unfit to be a member of a religious congregation, we can only assume that our religious organisations are intent on adopting the same sure-fire strategy for success that has seen the Australian Labor Party alienate its once natural constituency.

    Amen to that.
