Hoping High Court sticks to merits

Editor, The West Austalian: I respond to your press report entitled “Baden-Clay appeal” which appeared on page 7 of TWA on 5 January 2016, where the Queensland DPP is appealing to the High Court for special leave to appeal the Queensland’s Court of Appeal’s recent decision to downgrade Mr Baden-Clay’s murder conviction to manslaughter for killing his wife in 2012.

Let’s hope that the High Court doesn’t repeat its sad history by following the mob again.  Remember the Lindy Chamberlain’s Case in NT and the Darryl Beamish Case’s in WA, where the High Court made what later became proven errors of legal judgement?  Let’s hope the High Court sticks to the merits of the Baden-Clay case.
